For the amount we worry about body odour, it seems we spend very little time thinking about what we put on our bodies to keep us smelling fresh. About 6 months ago I had a conversation with a friend where I mentioned I was frustrated by supermarket deodorant. They told me they had been using natural deodorant for years and were loving it. I was pleasantly surprised to see there were loads of great reviews about natural deodorant online. They were also written by normal people with busy jobs, kids and social lives. The first type I tried was a salt crystal. I couldn’t find any in my local supermarket so bought it from a local chemist. I found it awkward to use, it involved wetting your armpits and rubbing the crystal over them. It also didn’t have any scent. It did last for ages and being someone that hates waste, I stuck at it until it ran out but wasn’t keen to do it again.

Wild Natural Deodorant
My first subscription Wild natural deodorant came with a beautiful aluminium case and compostable/recyclable bamboo pulp refill.

A few months ago, a friend sent me a link for a new natural deodorant being sold online called Wild. They asked me if I’d tried it – I hadn’t (turns out they’re a startup) but I was instantly intrigued by the design. The deodorant comes in the form of compostable refills which you slot into a (gorgeous!) reusable case. Once you finish a refill, you simply swap to another refill and slot it into the case and start again.  The biggest things that stood out to me was it was single-use plastic free and could be delivered straight to my door when I needed it. The timing couldn’t have been better as the UK had gone into lockdown and the shop I usually bought my deodorant from was now shut. Wild is made from ingredients derived entirely from nature and doesn’t contain nasty chemicals (sulphates, parabens or aluminium salts) compared to a conventional deodorant or antiperspirant.

Literally EVERY single person who has seen it in my bathroom has been intrigued because it looks so beautiful – they all have a sniff and end up buying (luckily I’ve got a referral code so ended up getting my first set of refills for free).

Wild sell their deodorant off their website and whilst I had never bought like this before, making an order was really straightforward. I’ve since discovered they’re also in Sainsbury’s which is handy if I need an extra refill on the fly. The first thing you choose is a case colour. You then select whether you just want to receive your case with some refills as a one-off purchase or whether you want to subscribe to regular refills. I chose to subscribe because it saved money, I knew there was no contract and I could opt out at any point if I didn’t like it (spoiler: I’m still subscribed 6 months later). The hardest part was picking which scent to choose for my initial order as they all sounded lovely. I went for Fresh Cotton & Sea Salt which literally smells like fresh sheets by the sea.

Wild Natural Deodorant
There’s a common perception that “natural” deodorants don’t work as well. I’ve tried several now and for many of them, this is true. Wild is different. It’s guaranteed to last 24 hours at least and I still smell good even after going for runs on the beach.

The delivery came really quickly which was a big positive as I’d literally just run out of my last deo. Not only was the deodorant gorgeous but it was simple to set up. All you do is open up the case, insert the refill, close the case back up and you’re ready to go.  I started using Wild straight away and it has outperformed any deodorant or antiperspirant I’ve used before. The ingredients are all natural, vegan and cruelty free. Not only is it great knowing the ingredients are natural, but the product feels so smooth and lovely to apply to your skin. The deodorant is a soft block that absorbs into your skin really quickly and is surprisingly moisturising!  I now resent spray on deodorant as it just reminds me too much of being unable to breathe in the changing room after games lessons at school because there was so much spray. Likewise, roll-ons leave me feeling sticky.

Wild Natural Deodorant
I would recommend Wild to anyone and everyone – I’m a subscriber for life and it’s genuinely one of the best personal decisions I’ve made in a long time and that’s before you consider all the plastic waste I’m saving. It seems small but you’ll understand when you get one…

A few days before my next set of refills were due to be sent out, I got an email asking me to choose the next three scents I would like. I logged into my account and added the three scents I wanted for my next order. All you need to remember is to make sure you do this before the charge is taken for you order. I picked orange Zest, Coconut Dreams and another Mint Fresh and it was that simple. I’ve been using Wild for over six months now and I’ve really put it to the test. I can officially say it’s done me proud for a terrifying job interview, full day hiking in the recent heatwave and a day working in the garden followed by seeing friends and the best part – I didn’t even have to top up.

  1. How do i order it?

  2. I bought this in sainsburys 3 months ago. Much better than the neals yard I was using before. Highly recommend. I already have a refill at the ready. Well done Wild

  3. If I used this deodorant once a daycan you estimate how long a refill would last? I don’t want to end up wth a cupbard full of refills.

If i subscribe do i have to have 3 refills every month? Surely i’ll have an excess of refills then?

  5. I’ve used a few natural deodorants before (Salt of the Earth is the one I’ve used the most) but what I find difficult is the antipersperant side of things. How do you find Wild compares on that front?
